about
christian Fiction
I actually know people who think that there aught not be such a thing as Christian fiction. They say it is oxymoronic and does more harm than good. In some instances they are right, but maybe they have not read some of the great Christian Fiction we have read.
We have seen God glorified, and readers edified by fiction story telling.
when I Love
Christian Fiction
1. When you understand that the book is distinctively Christian based on the book description, and you are re-affirmed as you flip through the pages.
2. When the story covers gospel themes that don't exist out side of the bible or other good Christian works. ie. depravity, repentance, sanctification.
3. When it is both a great story and edifying to the christian reader.
4. When the gospel message is strong without seeming forced because it was built up with the story as its foundation.
5. When it's good enough to share with a friend. Christian or not.
When I Hate
christian fiction
1. When you're tricked by the Christian-ized blurb and genre category, because the author thinks Christian Fiction is a niche for anything non-explicit.
2. When the main christian themes are the same themes used in almost every book because there is nothing exclusively christian about them.
3. When it uses foul language or sultry situations in the attempt of being "authentic."
4. When the christian elements are thin overlays having no connection to plot or theme.
5. When it becomes so popular that it stops being christian fiction and because inspirational instead. (the crossover)
There are few things better than a great book that gets the gospel right and glorifies God.
My name is R.A. Graves. I write thoughtful christian fiction with all of the elements common to the genre. But I thematically write about the gospel truths that are specific to our faith.
My prayer is to create both edifying & entertaining books for other christian readers like myself.
I don't think I'm being t0o forward if I just come out and say, I want to be your favorite author. I want to write your favorite books.
You're smart. You know authors are trying to get their books "out there." Will you allow me the prevalage of telling you when my next book is published?
